Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Per
Diem Occupational Therapist to join our team. In this role, you
will evaluate patient functions and implement tailored treatment
plans aimed at improving or restoring their function. You will
collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and engage in community
education and student mentorship. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy program with
at least a B.S. degree.
- Current Connecticut license holder or eligibility for
licensing.
- Certification as a Hand Therapist is required. COMPETENCIES:
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written,
are essential.
- Proficiency in personal computing, particularly with
Windows-based programs.
- Basic familiarity with Outlook, Word, and Excel is desirable
but not mandatory.
- Access to reliable transportation for travel between multiple
work sites is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Conduct patient evaluations following departmental
standards.
- Tailor evaluations according to patient symptoms, activity
levels, and medical conditions to set individualized, measurable
goals.
- Implement suitable therapeutic exercises to enhance strength,
endurance, coordination, and range of motion.
- Utilize physical agents and manual techniques to alleviate pain
and meet treatment goals.
- Employ effective methods to normalize motor activity and
facilitate learning.
- Educate patients and families about home exercise programs and
functional activities to promote independence.
- Assess when a patient has reached their maximum therapeutic
benefit and recommend discharge when appropriate.
- Document patient interactions in compliance with insurance and
departmental guidelines.
- Encourage interdepartmental communication regarding patient
care and liaise effectively with referring physicians.
- Ensure daily billing submissions are accurate and timely.
- Adhere to the professional ethics established by the AOTA and
the facility.
- Utilize proper body mechanics and safety measures to prevent
injuries.
- Supervise at least one affiliated student annually.
- Participate in continuing education courses to enhance
treatment techniques.
- Engage in at least one in-service training session for
professional development each year.
